Flowchart

Questions: Why do you want to use flowchart in your mobile interface design and screen interface design? How will it help your users to meet the interactive goals?

In my point of view, why flow charts are such useful in various decision making context is because flow charts helps to analyse each possible action piece by piece. It goes back to the very basic decision making rule by using elimination technique. It always starts with a statement, then a question, it awaits for responses either one or nil, and then leads to the result. So, when it comes to using flowchart in multimedia environment, it definitely helps you to structure your interface design and eventually assist in producing an effective and convenient design solution. In another words, flow chart is one of the best way to arrange a very complex link between all possible connection. Therefore, when we use flowchart in our mobile interface design as well as screen interface design, it helps us to reorganise things properly and evaluate each possible decision nicely and what it will leads to as a consequences. Hence, problems are easily noticed and solutions are easier to obtain.

  1. What happen if the link to the chart is so complex that the process might take longer than expect because there is just too many variable to be consider?Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of easing the user to get to a decision?

  2. I wont be much worried about the efficiency of the flowchart when the chart get too complex. This system is actually built for computer engineering and definitely far more complex than mobile interface design as well as screen interface design. There's a technique in using the flowchart in its most effective way to come out with the most effective solution.

  3. I generally agree, because you outlined the basic function of flowcharts.

question: "In another words, flow chart is one of the best way to arrange a very complex link between all possible connection."

^ by this saying, are you assuming the link to be made to be a complex one? as a designer, is that the attitude/expectation that one should have?

  4. If you see everything as a whole, as in the whole flow chart, it might seem very complex. But from making a hard decision, each box or statement and question that you go through in the flowchart is actually breaking down complex question into smaller and simpler question which only have an outcome of either positive or negative.

Quoting "by this saying, are you assuming the link to be made to be a complex one? as a designer, is that the attitude/expectation that one should have?", using flowchart is not to complicate things, but rather to simplify and see things smaller and make easier and obvious decision towards what we want.
